It has been over a year since the World Health Organization (WHO) proclaimed that the Covid-19 disease is a global pandemic. It resulted in many implications for nutrition, food security, and the food system. Because strict safety measures were implemented, it led to delaying the food supply chains. Resulting in severe food insecurities increase in more than 60% of households in the world.
Having liberty means that we are free within society from oppressive constraints imposed by authority on our manner of life, behavior, or political views. As campus journalists, we must exercise our right to speak out and perform our duties, which is to inform and seek out the truth in the interests of the public's right to know. In recognition of the role of campus journalism in promoting and defending press freedom and freedom of expression, we celebrate National Campus Press Freedom Day.
Student Journalists are the ones who deliver facts and produce content for the campus or the community. Besides that, our main goal is not to receive many awards but to give the student body and our community accurate information and to use our voice to stand for the truth. As student journalists, we are glad to acknowledge the former Editors-In-Chief of Yraga/Amudyong, Ma. Bernadette R. Panaligan and Mary Lorelie A. Potencio for exhibiting their journalistic skills in Gawad Lagablab: Search for Ten Outstanding Youth Journalists of the Philippines.
“The youth is the hope of the future” is a statement that was popularized by the renowned hero of our country, Dr. Jose Rizal. Just as it was centuries ago and even today, we still recognize the significant roles of the youth in the world community, so to celebrate this, the International Youth Day was designated by the United Nations. Today, August 12, we dedicate this day to the roles that young men and women play in their nations. This year the theme of International Youth Day is “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health.”
Every time we hear the words “National Heroes Day”, we associate it with Dr. Jose Rizal or Andres Bonifacio and other known heroes of our country. As we celebrate National Heroes Day every last Monday of August, we commemorate and honor those that fought for our independence and those who revolutionized and helped our country against the foreign rule of the United States, Japan, and Spain.
