These competitions are not official YRAA events. Schools outside of YRAA and independent climbers (with parent approval) are welcome to attend. Contact the facility for registration details and more information.

Pre-Holiday Bouldering Event
Location: Steel Peak Climbing & Ninja
Date: Thursday, December 7, 2023
All teachers must also email Steel Peak a list of all competitors attending no later than December 5th. Please indicate your school and grade in this email.

How it Works
Each student will represent their school in the scramble bouldering competition. Each student's score will be the total of their top 5 climbs. Podium goes to the top 3 male and top 3 female athletes - TBD.
Scramble Rules
1. Climbs will be numbered from 1 to 15 (approximate)
2. Each climber will receive a score card
3. Infinite attempts are allowed on each climb
4. Points are awarded for each climb completed
5. Each climb will only count for points once
6. A witness will sign your scorecard, witness can be a fellow climber or teacher
7. 4 points of contact to start a climb and must show control on the finish hold

All Grades 9-12
Check In: starts at 9:45am
Briefing: 10:00am to 10:15am
Scramble: 10:30am-1:30pm
Podium: 2:00pm to 2:30pm (prizes and photos)
● Top 3 male and top 3 female
Free climb afterwards.

York Region High School Bouldering Competition
Location: Steel Peak Climbing & Ninja
Date: Wednesday, April 19
Entry Fee: $26+tax
Climbing Shoe Rental: $7+tax
* climbing shoes are mandatory on all climbing walls.

Wave 1 - Grade 9 and 10
Check In: 9:00am to 9:45am
Briefing:9:45am to 10:00am
Scramble: 10:00am to 12:00pm
Wave 2 - Grade 11 and 12
Check In: starts at 11:00am
Briefing: 12:00pm to 12:15pm
Scramble: 12:15pm-2:15pm
Podium: 2:30pm to 3pm (prizes and photos)
● Top 5 competitors overall (all genders) will receive prizes and bragging rights.
● Top 3 Schools - Gold, Silver and Bronze
● Prizes and Medals provided by Steel Peak
