YRAA Rock Climbing

Only open to YRAA school teams. Coaches must register all athletes on: (1) the YRAA site and (2) climber list sent by the convenor. The climber list will be shared with each gym hosting qualifiers.

Discipline and Divisions

• Bouldering

  • Recreational: climbing consistently at V1-V3 levels of difficulty 

  • Sport: climbing consistently at V3-V5 levels of difficulty 

  • Elite: climbing consistently at V5 level of difficulty or above 

• Top-rope

  • Recreational: climbing consistently up to 5.9 level of difficulty 

  • Sport: climbing consistently at 5.9-5.11 levels of difficulty 

  • Elite: climbing consistently at 5.11 level of difficulty or above   

Note: Athletes are automatically placed in a division based on qualifying results.

YRAA Competition consists of 4 qualifiers and 1 finals. 

• 2 qualifiers for Bouldering

• 2 qualifiers for Top-rope

• Finals consists of both disciplines

Note: Students will only have to compete in at least 1 qualifier per discipline to be eligible for finals. Schools will be assigned a date to reduce crowding in the gym for qualifiers
