Competition Events

Our Association hosts a range of speech and debate events designed to challenge participants and help them grow. These include prepared speeches, impromptu speaking, structured debates, and panel-style discussions. Each event is crafted to test different skills, from research and argument construction to quick thinking and confident delivery.

Throughout the year, we organise internal training competitions as well as larger public tournaments. These events allow participants to apply what they’ve learned, receive feedback from experienced judges, and compete in a supportive but high-standard environment. Our goal is not just to crown winners, but to help every participant leave better than they arrived.

Rules & Guidelines

To maintain fairness and professionalism, all participants are expected to follow the Association’s competition rules:

• Respect all judges, competitors, and event officials at all times.
  
  

• Adhere strictly to time limits for speeches and debate segments.
  
  

• Ensure all prepared material is original and properly researched.
  
  

• Follow the assigned format for each event (speech structure, debate order, rebuttal timing, etc.).
  
  

• Maintain professional conduct, including appropriate attire and respectful language.
  
  

Judging is based on clear criteria such as content, organisation, delivery, rebuttal quality (for debates), and overall impact. Detailed scoring rubrics are provided before each competition to ensure transparency.

These rules exist not to restrict participants, but to create a fair, structured environment where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed.
