Who Are We?

• We are a youth-led Speech and Debate Association built on one simple belief: young voices matter. Our team comprises passionate, driven students who believe in the power of speaking up, thinking critically, and leading with confidence. Through training sessions, competitions, and mentorship, we help young people develop public speaking skills, sharpen their arguments, and grow into strong, articulate leaders.

• Our members have represented their schools and communities with pride, earning recognition in competitions and building a reputation for excellence, discipline, and integrity. But beyond trophies, what truly defines us is our commitment to growth, teamwork, and uplifting one another.

Sophia Samaroo

  •CEO (Chief Executive Officer) and Founder

•Upper6  SJCPOS 

•Academics: Pure Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics 

•Debate: 3 years as Junior President and Vice President in my school club; as part of that, won the Caribbean Reparations Debate in 2025. 

•Achievements: National Triathlete, Founder of YSDA

•Why I did this: To create a space for public speaking and debating in Trinindad

Rebecca De Silva

  •CMO (Chief Marketing Officer)

•Academics: History, Econ, French, Add Math, Chemistry 

•Debate: 3 years in school debate club leadership (current junior president), UNESCO club junior leader, CRR team member 2025 

•Achievements: Competitive dancer 7+ years locally & internationally.

Salil Lalbeharry

  •Chief of Staff

•Undergraduate at the University of Toronto

•Academics: Engineering 

•Debate: 6 years in the debate club, president for 1 year, secretary for 2 years, COTE UWI 2022 debate winner

•Achievements: Paris CWMUN participant, robotics team member

Jael Reyes

  •Chief Communications Officer

•Academics: Biology, Chemistry, Sociology  

•Debate: 4 years in the debate club; debate leadership for 3/4 years

•Achievements: UNESCO club leadership for 2yrs (current Vice Pres)

Seth Mohammed 

  •Chief Financial Officer

•Hillview Graduate.

•Academics: Physics, Pure Mathematics, Chemistry.  

•Debate: 7 years in the debate club, leadership for 6 years, and president for 3 years.

•Achievements: Executive in the environmental club, engineering club, and robotics club; finalist in MYP S2.

Gian Williams  

  •Marketing Officer

•Form 5, Fatima College.

•Academics: History, Additional Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Physics, Geography.

•3 years of leadership; 1 year as president of the Fatima Debate Society.

•Achievements: “Make Your Point” runner up season 4.

Kavel Lalla

  •Website Developer

•Upper 6 PCC.

•Academics: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics.

•Debate: PCC Debate Club ( 4+ years ).

•Achievements: Python, JavaScript, C++, HTML,  Competitive Programmer on Codeforces and DMOJ, Website Developer, Kavel Lalla GitHub.
