Make More Conscious Decisions!!!
After observing the different pages within this website, we encourage you to make more conscious decisions regarding climate change.
One of the most notable dietary changes to consider is eating less red meat.
The production of meat, especially beef, and lamb, is associated with high greenhouse gas emissions.
There are many alternatives to meat on the market such as plant-based meat which are found to have a smaller carbon footprint.
"...the Beyond Burger generates 90% less greenhouse gas emissions, requires 46% less energy, has >99% less impact on water scarcity and 93% less impact on land use than a ¼ pound of U.S. beef" (UMICH).
Although it is a big step, considering a vegetarian/ vegan diet can drastically reduce your carbon footprint
"The research showed that vegan diets resulted in 75% less climate-heating emissions, water pollution, and land use than diets in which more than 100g of meat a day was eaten. Vegan diets also cut the destruction of wildlife by 66% and water use by 54%, the study found" (Damian Carrington).

Choose products with eco-friendly certifications
When purchasing groceries we recommend looking for labels like "Fair Trade," "Rainforest Alliance," or "Certified Organic" when purchasing food items. These certifications often indicate more sustainable and ethical production practices.
Reduce single-use packaging & buy in bulk
Next time you go purchase groceries, we recommend eliminating products with single-use plastic as much of it ends up in landfills or litters our oceans and natural environments.
Buying in bulk involves purchasing larger quantities of items without individual packaging. This approach can reduce the amount of plastic and other packaging materials.
Places you can buy in bulk include: Costco Wholesale, BJ's Wholesale Club, Sam's Club
Turn off or unplug any devices or lights that aren't in use
Many electronic devices continue to draw power even when not in use
Install energy-efficient appliances...
ex. Solar panels, LED, or certain appliances with ENERGY STAR labels.
Install energy-efficient appliances...
If possible we recommend replacing traditional incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED lights as they last longer and use much less electricity, saving both energy and money.
Skip the Car...
If able, try walking or biking to your destinations. If it's too far, see if you can use public transportation or carpool!
Purchase an Electric Vehicle...
If it is possible for you, an EV can seek to reduce CO2 emissions that would otherwise be emitted by gasoline-powered vehicles.
The following website is just a fun interactive way to get an overview of your own Ecological Footprint and your Earth Overshoot Day.
"Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity's demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds what Earth can regenerate in that year."
