Prayer of Thanks for Jesus
O Eternal Father,
we adore You and give You thanks
for the boundless love You have shown to the world
in sending Your only Son, the Word made flesh.
An angel appeared to Mary,
and by the power of the Holy Spirit she conceived;
thus the eternal Word became man in her womb.
A child was born for us in Bethlehem,
the Savior, Christ the Lord.
He grew in wisdom and favor before You and before men,
yet He was tempted as we are,
and remained without sin.
He proclaimed the coming of Your Kingdom,
bringing good news to the poor,
healing the brokenhearted,
and performing great miracles of mercy and power.
Betrayed by one of His own,
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose in glory,
conquering sin and death;
forty days later He ascended to Your right hand,
where He reigns forever as our King and Priest.
He sent the Holy Spirit upon His Church,
to guide us into all truth and empower us as His witnesses.
Even now, He feeds His people with His own Body and Blood
in the holy Eucharist,
the sacrament of His enduring presence and love.
Faithful God,
You keep all Your promises:
in Christ Jesus, mercy and truth have met,
justice and peace have embraced.
Grant us grace to follow Him faithfully,
to live in His Kingdom,
to receive His gifts with thanksgiving,
and to await His coming in glory.
We ask this through the same Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
