Context
The Team leader is a person who is an expert in farming and harvesting. A team of 12 to 14 people usually goes for harvesting. They were not technology-friendly and fond of local phones, whose batteries did also not support the whole day if they were listening to music during the trip. He had to wait for late-night approx 10:00 PM at the security place to collect the gate pass and seal to start the trip for the next day. Harvesting supposes to start at 6:00 Am and finish before 11:00 AM in order to reduce the loss and rejection of the grapes, which are going to be bear by the farmer’s pocket only.
Their mindset was like old a school, what they will get in return if the application will install on their phone? They were afraid also, that their freedom was also going to be monitored.
Sahyadri Farm was founded in 2010 at Nashik near Dindori Village. They were practicing ToGo Model, where FPO had a responsibility to arrange the vehicle to procure the crops on contract for 5 to 6 months if crop value is high like grapes, pomegranate, and crop value is low then the farmer's duty to arrange the vehicles like tomato and do the same. Logistic officers don’t have any tracking and monitoring device for the Vehicle movement. and want to increase the shelf life of the grapes to gain more profit. At the grapes dockyard, there were long vehicles queueing to unload the consignment. But during the summer season, it was very important to reduce the temperature of the entire vehicle to cool down the heat so, that it won't damage grapes. So, the watering of vehicles was a crucial process before unloading the consignments at the dockyards. So, it was difficult to rely on the driver's answer.
Re-routing of the vehicles was happening over a call if there were a shortage of crates procuring from the farmer’s plot. It was another time-consuming task from the logistic officer's side.

Design Brief
Develop an end-to-end digital platform in the logistic module, it can be monitored, it can be controlled, and increase the efficiency of the involved player.
Key Deliverables
1). Time stamping during trip
This platform helps to fetch the time at each important movement of the vehicle during the procuring of the crops. A very minimal input one had to feed during the trip, considering he was not technology-friendly.
2). Tracking & Re-routing
This platform help to logistic officer to see the movement of vehicle on his desktop and re-route the vehicle nearby the farmer plot if required.
Roles & Responsibility
I was part of an ambitious project between January 2019 to December 2019 and collaborated with my team on the feature of time stamping, tracking and re-routing, and on-trip futures.
In addition, I did shadowing, interviewing, researching, prototyping, and content creation under the guidance of my mentor and team.
I stopped working on the project during the detailed visual design phase as the app started to be built.
This app was tested in the same season.
UX Process
What was the current work cycle of the involved player?
By performing in-person interviews and conducting surveys, with the logistic officer and team leader, got insights into where communication was happening over the phone via call and whats App, through which both the player got frustrated. To understand this better I did a contextual inquiry method for the team leader and logistic officer, to understand their obstacles during the work cycles.
Contextual Inquiry
It is an ethnographic research method that helps to understand people do and what they do it. It captures the work's complexities; information flow, the cultural qualities of a working environment, and the sequence of routine tasks.

Current Scenario Team Leader & Logistic Officer
Agronomist cross checked all the plots and make notes which plot was going to be harvested in the future.
He made call around 3 PM to scheduling officer and share the same information. (Multiple call to delivered the information)
Scheduling officer note the plot details, tonnage of harvest etc.
This type of conversation keep going on for 3 hours with other agronomist.
(Take 15 to 20 minutes to schedule each plots).
TL had to cordinate with his team and driver in night itself and inform to farmer also.
They took 7 to 8 minutes tea break on the highway.
Farmer's use tractor to bring the crates to grapes field.
After loading of crates on truck, TL had to take signature from farmer on the gate pass to validate the crates number.
Sometime farmer was not present at that time so, TL had to wait another 10-15 minutes.
It was difficult to rely on TL or driver wether watering of vehicle were done or not.
Team reached SF around 12:30-1:30 PM. TL had to take In Time seal on the gate pass when reached SF security gate.
There was a long queue of vehicle at the grape dockyard. Meantime all team and driver had their lunch and take rest beneath the shadow till their vehicle unloading turn come.
All this process took atleast 3 hr to 5 hrs.
At the dockyard logistic officer inspect the crates number and validate with gate pass.
Logistic officer forwarded that gate pass with seal to accounts departments for the payment clearance to the farmer. Farmer received SMS about the inwarding and payment details within a 24 hours.
All this task another 1 to 2 hrs. Afterthat all team and driver finished theri trip and again start for next day except sunday.

Feedback & Suggestion
2. Colour combination was not much pleasing.
3. It was difficult to access the call and navigation icon while using the app.
4. There should be a pop-up message where the system will ask if your crates number is ok or do you want to make a correction after the pressing submit button when feeding the crates number.
5. Show a pop-up message to indicate to the user, if the vehicle is moving in poor connectivity network zone.
2. Place the call and navigation icon at the center of the screen to access it easily.
3. It will be good if the application has an onboarding screen that speaks about its important features.
4. Make the signing application with OTP rather than DOB.
5. Accommodate two harvesting slots in trip tracking, because most of the time there will be a probability team leader may be assigned two plots for grape harvesting & accordingly gate pass will be visible.

Benefit & Impact
Team Leader application has minimal design and single page screen, where user can perform the task without any problem. It has a calling and navigation feature. it is also imbibed with synchronization features when vehicles will enter the low connectivity network area. And the side Logistic officer can monitor the vehicle's movement easily. He can easily re-route the vehicle if carrying fewer crates nearby the farmer's plot.
It can impact and benefit many organizations who have a similar kind of nature of work, It can also improve productivity, control the damage and increase efficiency.
