Lab facilities

Our laboratory is equipped with various instruments essential for molecular biology and environmental chemistry research, including a real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (real-time PCR), DNA sequencing equipment (third-generation Nanopore MinION sequencing platform), gas chromatographs (two FID and one TCD), automated pipetting platform, ion chromatograph (IC), online greenhouse gas analyzers (CO2, CH4, N2O), FIA continuous-flow spectrophotometer, microplate spectrophotometer, disk spectrophotometer, and atomic absorption spectrometer (AA).

From 2023 to 2024, with support from the Center for Agricultural Zero-Carbon Technology and Management Innovation, the laboratory has acquired additional equipment such as an elemental analyzer for carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and sulfur, a liquid total organic carbon analyzer, a solid-liquid total organic carbon and nitrogen analyzer, and a solid-state stable isotope mass spectrometer.

The lab also features a high-performance bioinformatics computing server (64 cores/128 threads, 480GB RAM) for processing and analyzing environmental microbiome sequencing data. These resources are available for student research projects and academic writing and are open to collaborative studies with other research teams to explore environment-related topics.

The laboratory currently operates across three main locations: shared experimental space with Professor Shan-Hua Yang of the Institute of Fisheries Science, Rooms 505 and 506 in the Biotechnology Building on Changxing Street, and Rooms 207 and 208 in the Bioenvironmental Systems Engineering Laboratory Building.
