How we made our glove box

To prevent our Petri dishes with agar from getting contaminated, we created our own sterile glove box at home. Below is the procedure for making it.

Shopping List:

2 waste pipes with a diameter of 7.5 cm
A transparent box, 56x39x42 cm / 65 IKEA SAMLA
IKEA UPPATVIND air purifier
IKEA VINDSTYRKA air quality sensor
Something to cut holes with
Sanitary sealant
2 rubber bands
Rubber gloves

Step 1

We cut the 2 pipes with a diameter of 7.5 cm, as shown in the picture. If the edges are sharp, it’s best to file them down to avoid tearing the gloves in Step 4.

Step 2

We traced both pipes on the box where we wanted our hands to go and cut out the holes.

Step 3

We inserted the pipes into the holes and sealed them with sanitary sealant.

Step 4

Finally, we added the gloves to the pipes, secured them with rubber bands, and placed the air purifier and air quality sensor inside. We turned on the sensor and purifier, and the box should clean the air inside within 3-4 minutes.
