Chinese

The goal of the Chinese course is to help children enjoy learning Mandarin through social interaction, hands-on activities, and creative thematic teaching. Chinese culture is also a significant component of language learning. We are learning themes through games, songs, storytelling, and crafts in the classrooms across all levels.

For Grade 1-2:

The tone of these classes is having fun with the language, and the goal is to instill a love of learning Mandarin. We are learning self-introduction; Family; Numbers; Greetings, Animals, colors, and holidays.

For Grade 3-6:

The focus at this level is listening, speaking,. Students are learning Chinese Pinyin, daily expressions. They learned how to introduce themselves and families, talk about food preferences, and school life, and describe their hobbies. They also made pen pals from Beijing, China to discover authentic Chinese culture.

For Grade 6-8

The focus at this level is be able to understand normal speed Chinese dialogues; clearly express themselves in short but well connected sentences; recognize simple Chinese characters; and write simple personal letters. Students are also learn proper structures and sentence patterns frequently used in standard spoken Chinese.

Also students are learning to have a better understanding of Chinese culture and society.
