Guest Speaker Reflection:
Last Class, we had a rich conversation with Michael Danko who is holding a degree in Environmental Science and Geographic Computer Analysis. Mike is actually working for the past 4 years as a Business Development and Marketing Manager at MidAtlantic Engineering Partners and at Penoni Associates. Mike is basically an expert looking for business growth, new marketing opportunities,
During his visit, he shared with us the experience he has under the field. The successful work he has done and the challenges they encounter along the way. He also talked about how important the resume and cover letter is when it comes to apply for a job. Especially the cover letter must be very well structured because it weighs a lot for you to be hired. Mike also introduced us, how these companies operate, For instance “do not stay into smalls company because they can not benefit you in any way. Thus, always aims a bigger company for more benefits.”
To me, the most important point he mentioned was when he was talking about the writing part, because I am not good at it. However, like he said it is a skill that will accompany you in the industry for a better understanding of the audiences. Thus, I have to do a lot of practice to get better at it.
Overall, the discussion was full of interest, we learned a lot regarding the world after graduating college. His suggestions will lead us toward a successful career.
