YGF/YPF is the perfect opportunity for young KSEA members to connect, share experiences, and grow together through a global platform. YGF/YPF brings scientists and engineers of Korean heritage from all across the globe to network and share their experiences. Over 110 young korean scientists and engineers from 16 different countries convene together for this event. The forum focuses on professional development, community engagement, and leadership in the context of science and engineering. Many past KSEA leaders had the chance to attend YGF/YPF.
Active members of YG groups and young professionals looking to enhance their leadership skills and professional network should apply. YGF selects current undergraduate students while YPF selects current graduate students/post-doctoral researchers. 15 undergraduate students for YGF and 6 graduate students/post-doctoral researchers for YPF are selected. YG group involvement plays a role in the selection process.
YGF and YPF features multiple presentations from country leads, where the current understanding and dogma of science and technology of each respective country is discussed. There are several opportunities to explore the culture of South Korea throughout the conference. Participants are given plenty of opportunities to network with one another through various activities presented. YGF country leads and YGF particiants will organize and present a "Country Booth" session to showcase the cultures of their respective countries. YPF participants are given the opportunity to present and discuss their current research in the Fame Lab session.
Starting from 2023, YGF/YPF coincides with the World Congress of Korean Scientists and Engineers (WCKSE). Many parts of YGF/YPF will coincide with the ceremonies and events of WCKSE. WCKSE is a splendid opportunity to meet eminent scientists and engineers of Korean backgrounds from all across the country.
YGF/YPF application cycles are announced via email and Instagram, along with the deadline. Applications typically open and close around February and March.
