PROJECT: OptiVerse Mobile App ROLE: Lead UI/UX Designer DURATION: 6 months
Overview
As the lead UI/UX designer for Optimus Bank, I was tasked with spearheading the development of the bank's mobile application.
This comprehensive project encompassed a range of tasks, including conducting thorough user research, crafting user personas and user stories, designing wireframes and mockups, and carrying out usability testing.
To fully grasp and evaluate the project's effectiveness, consider the lens of user-centric design principles and the overarching goal of enhancing the mobile banking experience for Optimus Bank's customers.
User Research
The first step in the design process was to conduct user research to understand the needs and pain points of Optimus Bank customers. This involved conducting interviews, surveys, and usability tests with both existing and potential customers. We also analyzed data from the bank's website and call center to identify common customer interactions.
User Personas and User Stories
Based on our user research, we developed a set of user personas and user stories. User personas are fictional representations of the different types of people who use the app. User stories are descriptions of the tasks that users want to accomplish with the app. These personas and user stories helped us to focus on the needs of the user throughout the design process.
We then created a series of low-fidelity wireframes to map out the user flow of the app. Wireframes are simple sketches that show the layout of the app's screens. We used wireframes to iterate on the design of the app and get feedback from users.
Once we were satisfied with the wireframes, we created high-fidelity mockups of the app. Mockups are more detailed than wireframes and show the actual appearance of the app. We used mockups to test the usability of the app and identify any areas that needed improvement.
After refining the mockups, we created an interactive prototype of the app for user testing. We observed users interacting with the prototype to identify and address any usability issues, ensuring a user-friendly and intuitive experience.
The mobile app was a user-friendly and intuitive mobile banking app that makes it easy for users to manage their finances. The app includes features such as:
A dashboard that shows users their account balances and recent transactions
A bill pay feature that allows users to pay their bills online
A money transfer feature that allows users to transfer money between their accounts
The app has been well-received by Optimus Bank customers and has helped to increase the bank's customer satisfaction ratings.
I learned a great deal from this project. Some of the most important lessons I learned include:
The importance of user research
The importance of iteration
The importance of usability testing
The importance of creating a user-friendly and intuitive design
Designing the Optimus Bank Mobile Application was a challenging but rewarding project. I am proud of the app that I created and I believe that it will continue to be a valuable asset to Optimus Bank.
