Scan Receipt

Opens the document camera, auto-crops the receipt, runs on-device OCR, parses receipt fields, stores the image and OCR text locally, then moves the receipt into the Receipts tab.

Latest Receipt

Shows the newest saved receipt as a quick card. Tap to open the receipt detail editor.

Summary tiles

Total Spend, This Month, Receipts, and Average show quick metrics for the selected period.

Privacy

Scanning, OCR, parsing, local storage, and export run on device. AI classification is on device when available and enabled.

Receipts

Total pill

Shows the sum of currently stored receipts using the selected display currency preference.

Search

Filter receipts by merchant, category, payment method, currency, notes, and OCR text.

Category chips

Tap a category chip to filter the list to receipts saved with that category.

Receipt cards

Each card shows thumbnail, merchant, date, category, total, and opens the detail editor when tapped.

Receipt details

Edit parsed fields, add notes, view raw OCR text, export PDF, share image + OCR text, or delete the receipt.

Stats

Month and year pickers

Choose a month and year for analytics. Select All to aggregate the full year.

Donut chart

Shows category share for the selected period. Center shows total spend or selected category total after selecting a slice.

Category rows

Rows list category, total, receipt count, and percentage. Tap a row to highlight and open filtered receipts.

Exports

Use Export Period to create a CSV for the selected month or year. Use Export Category to create a CSV for the selected category.

Mixed currencies

If multiple currencies are present and no exchange-rate service is enabled, Stats shows local amounts and displays a warning.

Settings

Currency

Sets the default display and fallback currency. Selection is remembered on this device.

Default Category

Used when the parser and AI classifier cannot choose a category. You can edit each receipt later.

AI

Enables on-device classification when the system model is available. Keyword parsing remains the fallback.

Export Selected Month

Creates a CSV for receipts dated inside the selected month. Path: Settings > Data > Export Selected Month.

Export All to CSV

Creates one CSV for every saved receipt. Path: Settings > Data > Export All to CSV.

Clear All Receipts

Deletes every stored receipt, image, OCR result, and saved field from this device after confirmation.

AI Status

On-device

The system model is ready. When AI is enabled, new scans use semantic on-device classification.

Enable in Settings

Apple Intelligence must be enabled in iOS Settings for on-device AI to run.

Model not ready

iOS downloads models automatically based on power, storage, network, and system conditions.

Device not eligible

Some devices do not support Apple Intelligence even on supported iOS versions.

Requires iOS 26

FoundationModels is available only on iOS 26 and later.

Export Paths

Receipt PDF

Path: Receipts > tap a receipt > Export PDF. Creates a PDF with saved fields, image, and OCR text.

Share receipt image and text

Path: Receipts > tap a receipt > Share. Opens the share sheet with image and OCR text.

Analytics CSV

Path: Stats > toolbar > Export Period or Export Category.

Tip Exported CSV files are saved to the share destination you choose. For large exports, allow time for the file to be generated.

Quick Troubleshooting

• Camera permission If the document camera does not open, check Settings → Privacy → Camera and allow access for ScanarX.

• Photo Library If import or save fails, check Settings → Privacy → Photos and allow access.

• OCR or AI not available Ensure your device supports Apple Intelligence and that iOS model downloads are complete. AI features require iOS 26 for FoundationModels.

• Export issues For CSV/PDF export failures, try a smaller export or check available storage. Exports are saved to the destination you choose in the share sheet.

• App crashes Restart the device, reproduce the crash, then send logs and steps to support.

Summary

ScanarX is designed to keep your data private. By default, all scans, images, OCR results, parsed fields, and exports are stored locally on your device. We do not require an account to use the app.

we DO NOT collect

• Local data Receipt images, OCR text, parsed fields, notes, categories, and tags - these are stored only on the device unless you explicitly export or share.

• Network data Exchange rate lookups or optional cloud backup only if you enable those features. These are opt-in and clearly described before use.

How data is used

• On-device OCR and parsing to extract totals, dates, merchant names, and categories.

• On-device AI classification when enabled to improve category and merchant detection.

• Export features produce CSV, PDF, or ZIP files that you explicitly create and share.

Sharing and third parties

We do not share your data with third parties by default. If you choose to export or share a file, you control the destination. Optional exchange-rate services or cloud backup are third-party services and will be used only if you enable them; their privacy policies apply.

Retention and deletion

All data is retained on your device until you delete it. Use Settings → Data → Clear All Receipts to permanently remove all stored receipts and OCR results. Exported files are saved to the destination you choose and are not automatically deleted by the app.

Security

We use standard iOS storage and file protections. Images and OCR text are stored in the app container. If you enable cloud backup, data may be stored by the cloud provider under their security practices.

Children

ScanarX is not intended for use by children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, contact support to request deletion.
