Student Steps

Step 1: Choose your Topic

Choose a topic from Ancient Social or Political History, Literature, Philosophy, Art, Architecture or Mythology.

or

Ancient Language (Ancient Greek or Latin)

Step 2: Choose your category

Students will explore their chosen topic through one of the following mediums:


  • Presentation - Must Include Facts

Factual posters or PowerPoints of your Chosen Topic

  • Performance

Dramatic Performances, Musical Performances, Speeches, Poetry Recitals

  • Crafts

Dioramas, Paintings, Drawings, Posters, Sculptures, Models (Digital or Physical)

Step 3: Choose a Sustainable Development Goal to connect with your Project

Step 4: Submit your Application Form by 10th of January 2020

All Application must be submitted online by 10th of January - see Apply

Step 5: Research, Create, Develop your Classics Project

Research and develop your craft, performance, or presentation

Step 6: Submit your Digital Presentation/Performance by 20th of February 2020

All Digital Media must be submitted in February. This is to allow us to organise all Digital Media before our Symposium - see Submissions

Step 7: Write a Reflective piece on your Project

All students must write a reflective piece on their project (1 A4 page for Junior Cycle, 2 A4 page for Senior Cycle)

Step 8: Attend the Young Classicist Award Symposium on the 10th of March 2020 with your completed Project and Reflective Piece

Any Models, Posters, Pictures, Dioramas, Sculptures etc. should be brought by the entrant to the UCD for the Young Classicist Award Symposium. All students should also bring the reflective piece of writing with their completed project.
