Introduction to Databases (INFO SYS 322/422/722 - OTM 722) - Fall 2020 to Current
An introductory databases and data technology course for business undergraduate students majoring in Information Systems or interested in databases. I offer two sections of this course in the Fall and as of Fall 2025, this is a signature course for business undergraduates at WSB. We cover the structure, design, implementation, maintenance and querying of SQL databases primarily for use cases a business analyst might encounter. The use of Tableau and its integration with databases for visualization and business intelligence is also part of the course. A group project involving building a database from scratch, populating it with real-world data and analyzing it for a client-scenario presentation is a major part of this course.
Digital Strategy (INFO SYS 352/365) - Spring 2021-22, Fall 23 to Current
This course exposes students to the major theories of the economics and strategies of Information Systems that have been prevalent in the last few decades, with real-world case studies and examples. We dedicate a few weeks each to emerging technologies like Digital Platforms, Blockchain, Generative AI, IoT, IIoT, Crowds and how organizations use them or respond to them. Students work in groups to develop a proposal for a digital transformation initiative on campus or in their day-to-day lives based on the concepts covered.
