Habitat & Range

This species lives in wetlands, including freshwater and inland waters. They prefer sluggish or still waters with mud and detritus. They use both sandbars and deep sections of rivers and lakes.  Unfortunately, nothing is known about their nest site selection and juvenile habitat in the wild.  

This species is native to the wetlands of Vietnam, but has been found in Yunnan and eastern China. More specifically, the Red River Basin, coastal plains, and the Yangtze lowlands.
