About PRL
Known as the cradle of Space Sciences in India, the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) was founded in 1947 by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. As a unit of the Department of Space, Government of India, PRL carries out fundamental research in select areas of Astronomy & Astrophysics, Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, Geosciences, Planetary Sciences, Solar Physics, Space & Atmospheric Sciences, and Theoretical Physics.
PRL is located in the western part of Ahmedabad known as "Navrangpura". Many other premier Academic Institutions such as Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA), Space Applications Centre (SAC), Sardar Patel Institute of Administration (SPIPA), Ahmedabad Textile Industrial Research Association (ATIRA) and Gujarat University are also located in this region.
How to Reach PRL (Conference Venue)
Landmark: Gujarat University Tower (adjacent to the PRL campus).
From Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport
Distance: ~13 km (30–40 min)
Road: Book a prepaid taxi, Uber/Ola, or auto to PRL, Near Gujarat University.
Transit: BRTS services are also available, followed by a short auto ride.
From Ahmedabad Junction (Kalupur) Railway Station
Distance: ~8 km (20–30 min)
Metro (Recommended): Board the Blue Line at Kalupur Railway Station Metro heading towards Thaltej Gam and get off at the Gujarat University Metro Station. From the station, it is a quick 3-minute walk (0.33 km) to Gujarat University and the PRL campus.
Road: Hire an auto/cab and ask for "PRL, Near Gujarat University, Navrangpura."
Bus: Alternatively, take an AMTS bus to Gujarat University and walk 5 minutes.
From Sabarmati BG Railway Station (SBIB)
Distance: ~9.6 km (19–25 min)
Cab/Auto: Hire an auto or cab directly to PRL, which will typically navigate through the 120 Feet Ring Rd.
Metro: Board the Red Line Metro from the nearby Sabarmati Metro Station, travel to the Old High Court interchange, and switch to the Blue Line (heading towards Thaltej). Alight at the Gujarat University Metro Station.
From Asarva Railway Station
Distance: ~10 km (25–35 min)
Road: Hire an auto/cab directly to PRL, Near Gujarat University.
Transit: Public transport is available via Kalupur, but a direct cab/auto is recommended.
From Ahmedabad Central Bus Station (Geeta Mandir)
Distance: ~7 km (20–25 min)
Road: Take an auto/cab directly to PRL.
Bus: Alternatively, take a city bus to Gujarat University and walk 5 minutes.
How to Reach PRL (Thaltej Campus Guest House)
The guest house is located inside the PRL Thaltej campus.
From Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport
Distance: ~17 km (30–40 min)
Road (Recommended): Book a prepaid taxi, Uber/Ola, or auto directly to PRL Thaltej Guest House.
Transit: Airport shuttle/BRTS connectivity is available till ISKCON Temple BRTS, followed by a short auto ride to the campus.
From Ahmedabad Junction (Kalupur) Railway Station
Distance: ~14 km (35–45 min)
Metro (Recommended): Board the Blue Line from Kalupur Railway Station Metro towards Thaltej Gam. Get down at Thaltej Gam Metro Station. From there, take an auto-rickshaw or cab for the last 2–3 km (about 5–10 minutes) to the PRL Thaltej Guest House.
Road: Hire an Uber/Ola or auto directly to PRL Thaltej Guest House, PRL Thaltej Campus, Thaltej.
Bus: AMTS/BRTS services are available towards Thaltej/Science City, followed by a short auto ride to the campus.
From Sabarmati BG Railway Station (SBIB)
Distance: ~10 km (20–30 min)
Metro (Recommended): Board the Red Line from Sabarmati Metro Station to Old High Court. Interchange to the Blue Line towards Thaltej Gam and alight there. Take a short auto ride (5–10 minutes) to the PRL Thaltej Guest House.
Cab/Auto: Hire a cab or auto directly to PRL Thaltej Guest House, typically via the 132-ft Ring Road/SG Highway depending on traffic.
From Asarva Railway Station
Distance: ~15 km (35–45 min)
Road (Recommended): Hire an auto or cab directly to PRL Thaltej Guest House.
Transit: Travel to Kalupur Metro Station (or nearby metro access), board the Blue Line towards Thaltej Gam, and take an auto from the metro station to the campus.
From Ahmedabad Central Bus Station (Geeta Mandir)
Distance: ~15 km (35–45 min)
Metro (Recommended): Reach Kalupur Metro Station (adjacent to Ahmedabad Junction), board the Blue Line towards Thaltej Gam, and get off at Thaltej Gam Metro Station. Complete the last stretch by auto.
Road: Take an auto or cab directly to PRL Thaltej Guest House.
Bus: City buses towards Thaltej/Science City are available, followed by a short auto ride.
