Project Fair is CAPE's version of a Science Fair without limiting it to just Science! Project Fair is a fun event where students research any (God-honoring) subject they are interested in and make a visual display and presentation to showcase to peers, friends and family. Students can start a brand new study, expand on a topic they have studied in the past, or showcase an activity/hobby they participate in.
Project Fair is open to all CAPE families.
Project fair benefits students by giving them the opportunity to practice oral presentation skills by speaking to many people, develop research skills by utilizing many resources and/or learning to conduct an interview, use their God-gifted creativity to plan an interesting display for their project, and to meet others who share their interests.
Optional Judging: We are bringing back judging this year, but it is optional. When you sign up to participate in the Project Fair, there will be a place where you will indicate whether your student will be participating in the judging aspect of Project Fair. (See details below)
BE ON TIME. Students have a 30-minute window to set up their display before they need to BE AT THEIR DISPLAY for viewing at 6:30pm. Plan to visit other displays before or after viewing begins (see schedule for the event).
Your display should be no more than 3'x4' in size. You will be sharing a table space with one other student.
If your project is messy or involves any water, make sure you are bringing items to protect the table and floor around your project. Also plan to take extra care to clean up well.
If you will need power for your display, please bring your own extension cord and indicate it on your registration so that we keep your project away from any projects with water.
All students should have three "Ask Me" questions displayed to prompt interaction from guests as they look at your display.
Each student that is participating with judging will have 2 judges visit their poster board and interact with them for 5-8 min.
Students will be divided into 3 groups: Pre-K-2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade and 5th-12th grade.
NOTE: These subdivisions are based off the numbers of students already registered to be judged and the most fair distribution of number of students between groups.
We will have prizes for the top 3 winners in each group
Here is a sample of the Judging Sheet so that your students can know what the judging expectations are.
