Welcome to XI INTERNATIONAL SIMULIIDAE SYMPOSIUM 2026  in Vilnius, Lithuania

We are delighted to welcome You to the XI INTERNATIONAL SIMULIIDAE SYMPOSIUM, taking place in 26 – 29 of August 2026 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

This is the 11th time we have met together. We first met in Berlin in 2004, and later shared our scientific experience studying blackflies in Serbia, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Italy, Spain, Morocco and Turkey. We also met in Lithuania in 2008.

We look forward to seeing you so that we can share scientific discoveries, new ideas and spend time together, which may bring new opportunities for collaboration and new insights into the peculiarities of the life of blackflies.

The symposium is organized by State Scientific Research Institute Nature Research Centre and Life Sciences Center of Vilnius University.

The conference will take place in Vilnius, a scenic baroque city located at the confluence of two rivers. Blackflies do live there.

During the conference, we will be able to visit small streams in Vilnius, there are many of them in this city, and at the end of the conference we will go to experiene Lithuania and to visit other rivers both in Lithuania and Latvia.
