1. Anthropology of Kinship and Family History
Study of the family in rural areas, especially in relation to hereditary practices and the evolution of residence. He has carried out fieldwork and archival research in different areas of Catalonia (Priorat, Val d'Aran, Valls d'Àneu, Montseny). Studies have been carried out on inheritance, marriage strategies, traditional architecture, historical demography, home and family, etc. Some of this research has had an applied nature, giving rise to exhibitions.
2. Transformations of the family
Study of new family realities, based on life stories, especially the construction of identities in reconstituted families and family care processes. In this sense, he directed an R+D project on 'New families and kinship relationships' (1992-1996), which have given rise to different publications in the form of articles and books. This project continued in 2008 with the participation in an R+D project of the CNRS in France and through the direction of a research project in Barcelona on recomposed families.
3. Patrimonialization
Since 1992 he has been interested in the study of heritage processes. In this sense, he has directed, in this sense, different R+D projects on 'Processes of heritage of culture and nature' (2008-2015). The aim of this research is to analyse the social, economic and political use of heritage
4. Ethnological museums and multiculturalism
Research on identity, social participation, discourses in ethnological museums, representation of multiculturalism, etc. These studies have been carried out in museums in Spain, Canada and Latin America, giving rise to different comparative projects. The forms of representation of other cultures and the processes of decolonization of museums have also been analyzed.
5. Local museums and social museology
Study of local museums, especially in Catalonia and in relation to ethnological museums. Evolution of ecomuseums, social function of museums and museum strategies in relation to local development processes. There is an intense collaboration with local ethnological museums.
6. Museums and Memory
Forms of musealisation and traumatic memory policies. Strategies for the presentation of conflicts and memory, from a perspective of contents and museographies used. Museisation of the Spanish Civil War and Francoism.
7. Heritagy and sustainibility
Sustainability in museums and heritage. Impact of COVID on heritage. Challenges of sustainability in museums and ICH, which constitutes the theme of current R+D. Evolution and effects of public funding in museums. Digital museums.
8. Intangible Heritage
IHe has carried out different research in relation to the management of intangible heritage, declaration of Intangible Heritage of Humanity, etc. She has participated in Inventories of Intangible Heritage in Spain and has directed several research projects on the political uses of intangible heritage. He has also participated from an applied perspective in PCI digital museums (Pyrenean fire festivals) and in other PCI projects.
