The French Horn is generally considered the hardest brass instrument, as well as one of the most difficult instruments overall. This makes taking private instruction very important for setting students up for future success. However, private lessons can be expensive and impractical for some students, especially in the early stages of development.
When a student does finally decide that lessons are necessary, most have developed quite a few bad habits. For example, many high school students finally realize that private lessons are necessary when the demands of the higher level music that they are required to play begin to expose those flawed habits. Making the needed corrections requires patience and time, but high school musicians typically have less time due to the demands of marching band, sectionals, and concert rehearsal schedules. This sets up a situation where I rarely have the time to fix the underlying issues that would unlock their playing for the long term. Instead, the focus is on helping the student with short-term emergency solutions for the next performance obligation. The most efficient solutions to this problem is for students to be set up properly with solid foundational skills early in their development.
As a way of trying to help set students up for success, while simulataneoulsy offering a cost effective solutions, I am offering several options over the "Fall Semester"
