WVEA Scholarship Application
The Walnut Valley Educators’ Association (WVEA) will award four $500 scholarships to children, stepchildren, or grandchildren of WVEA members.
Eligible applicants must be graduating in May/June 2026 and planning to pursue post-secondary education, or currently enrolled in higher education (not a previous recipient). Students do not need to be graduates of Walnut Valley USD.
Applications must include:
Completed and signed application
500-word (max) personal statement (goals, financial need, accomplishment)
One letter of recommendation
Current unofficial transcript
Deadline: March 20, 2026 (no exceptions).
Applications may be mailed (postmarked by March 20), brought to the March 18 Rep Council meeting, or dropped off at the WVEA office by 5:00 PM on March 20.

The Walnut Valley Educators’ Association will be holding its election for the offices of President, First Vice President/Grievance, Second Vice President/Membership, Secretary, and Treasurer from February 23 to March 2, 2026. Nominations are open (which means that anyone who is a unit member is eligible to nominate any other unit member, including himself/herself for office). The term for each office is from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2028. Anyone wishing to run for office should file a Declaration of Candidacy Form via email to Laura Welsh at Lbmowrey@gmail.com, no later than 4:00 p.m. on February 13, 2026.

February 21 Deadline to submit an optional candidate statement by 4pm via email to Laura Welsh at Lbmowrey@gmail.com
February 21 Deadline to submit email corrections to Seema Bagai seema.wvea@gmail.com
February 23-March 2 Electronic Voting: Voting via SimplyVoting
March 2 Ballots due by 4pm
March 2 Result to leadership and candidates
March 3 Result to members (send certified results) and announcement if a run-off is needed
March 5 Challenge deadline for the election unless there is a run-off
