Our licensing agreement with Blackboard ends June 30th, 2024. This provides WSU Tech a one-year time-frame for our ITAS team to implement Canvas, complete faculty training, and migrate courses.
Overall Timeline
The licensing agreement for WSU Tech's use of Blackboard will conclude on June 30th, 2024, with all courses migrated to Canvas by the fall semester, 2024. This sets in motion a timeline for transitioning, affording us approximately a one-year timeframe for instructors to acquaint themselves with the new platform and migrate their courses.
The transition is expected to occur in phases, referred to as Groups, with the first phase — Group 1— scheduled to begin in Fall 2023. It is essential to note that the overall timeline of this transition remains fluid. It relies heavily on the information and feedback collected from a variety of stakeholders and constituencies along the way, particularly those involved in the Group 1 phase.
Recognizing that instructors have numerous demands and competing priorities, we plan to provide each of them with the opportunity to transition to Canvas at a pace that suits their needs best.
Throughout this process, we will actively engage with student and faculty groups, as well as Academic Affairs to fully comprehend the impact on students who may have to navigate two Learning Management Systems during this transition period.
