Physical Therapists spend twice as much time with their patients as a normal doctor would due to the repetitive healing process that rehabilitation requires. To solve this problem, I'm researching a machine that could perform these monotonous exercise movements on patients for the Physical Therapists, giving them more time to see and diagnose patients. It works by having the client step their feet into two footrests and strap their torso into a harness. Then, the device can move the body to perform rehabilitative exercises via motorized spools. The model's body was made in Solidworks and programmed with Matlab. Combining these, I could test the model's dynamics with MSC Adams. After successfully doing this as a proof of concept, I have started designing a real-life miniaturized version with over $7000 of parts. Because inclusivity is important to me, a statistics-based design was implemented for the device to hit most body types.
