Clarity & Style

Here we come to an intermediate point for most student writers. In my opinion, K-12 education front-loads this aspect of writing, at the expense of teaching students that having something worthwhile to say matters more and should be considered earlier.

Style and clarity can be taught. Voice, that personal touch that lets a reader see the human behind the words, requires style but cannot be taught. Voice grows with use. So try some stylistic variations from the left-hand navigation bar to see what "sounds like you" and what may work best for your reader.

No generative AI has a voice. At best, AI helpers employ stylistic variations, but they don't have the personal "quirks" that an attentive human possesses.

So what's your favorite voice? What sort of style gets you there? And can you combine it with clarity that honors and attracts readers?
