Character Reference Sheet
Your character which will explore Tasucan! They can be from the Tasucan setting or brought in from elsewhere. They can be any age, species, gender or occupation so long as they don’t break the server rules.
You can have 1 or 2 characters in a single team.
We would prefer your character reference either be all present on an image or an accessible webpage for accessibility purposes. Website builders such as Caard or Wix are allowed. Google Docs is not recommended.
A valid character reference includes:
Full Body Image: One full body, colour image of the character.
Additional views are encouraged such as the back view, details and props. These will help make drawing the character easier for other people!
Key Character Details: Character Name, Pronouns and Height.
Personality, Background and Abilities: A short paragraph to explain a character’s personality, background and abilities.
A visual to show what a character’s abilities look like can be useful! Having the personality written down can help people understand your character's key traits
An audition is a short introduction to your character and their story. How do they arrive at Tasucan? How can you hook the audience into the story you want to tell?
In case we exceed 32 auditions, each entry will be judged to determine which ones will get in with a maximum number of 32 competitors.
An audition will be considered valid if it meets the following criteria:
Have at least one page or a short sequence of your character arriving at Tasucan. Ideally your audition should show your character's motivation and personality.
Your character should either reach the shore of the Sea of the Damned or be in the Central Temple area by the end of the audition story.
It must be legible and readable. We should be able to understand what is going on regardless of how complete it is.
The audition must be submitted to the correct discord channel before the deadline, submission after this date will not be accepted.
When making your story, think about why your character is going on this adventure. Is it for fun? Some giant misunderstanding? Or do they have a specific goal or mission in mind? What's their motivation?
Each round you will be given an opponent you must utilize in your story. An opponent doesn’t need to be an enemy, but they need to contribute to the story in a meaningful way.
If you plan to have characters fight or be killed, make sure to check with the character's owner since some people are not comfortable with this.
Round Prompt: Each round will have a mandatory location prompt and an optional prompt of various weather/supernatural effects on the locations which you can choose to include if you want.
Round Length: Each round will be 4 weeks long with a 1 week break.
A round will be considered valid if it meets the following criteria:
Your opponent character must be present.
Your character and opponent character have some kind of major interaction or conflict (fighting, teaming up, etc)
It must be legible and readable. We should be able to understand what is going on regardless of how complete it is.
The round must be submitted before the deadline, submission after this date will not be accepted.
Valid submission websites: An entry will not be accepted if it is submitted exclusively on a website that needs an account to see the content or which is region locked (ex. Twitter/X, Imgur and Instagram). You CAN submit your work there, but the main link must be on an accessible website.
Examples of accessible websites include:
Youtube (Animation/Games)
ComicFury (Comics)
Cubari (Comics)
Website Builders (Wix, Caard)
During the break week, the judges will review every entry to determine everyone’s points. Each judge can give a maximum of 3 points per category (Maximum Points for an entry would be 24 points)
Our judging criteria is the following:
Story: Our main focus. An exciting and well written story is the most important thing in this contest!
Art: Important but we prioritize how clear and unique the art is rather than how polished it looks.
Character Interactions: Did you use your opponent's character well? Were they an important part of the story? Were they in-character?
Clarity: Having a story that is clear to follow along with is an important skill. This is a combination of laying out your art well and writing clearly.
The top three scorers will be announced in advance before the next round begins. We won't be able to give feedback due to the quick turnaround time and number of entries.
Each round, when judging week starts, a poll will be set up where everyone can vote for either: Sun ☀️ or Shadow 🌑
This determines whether the True Sun or Dark Sun is winning in the battle over the land. This will have consequences on Tasucan's locations weather and unnatural phenomena.
You learn what specific changes occur once the round matchups/optional prompt are announced.
Sun Phenomena Examples ☀️
Fire becomes more volatile
Less monsters will roam the land
Automatons will become more active
Shadow Phenomena Examples 🌑
Water becomes more volatile
More monsters will roam the land
Automatons become less active
If there is a tie, there will be a mix of sun and shadow effects. Which side will win in the end?
