The Western Philippines University Library was able to record a total of 4671 library visits from January to March 2024. For the month of January, most of the library users, based on the recorded attendance, are from the Bachelor of Science in Social Work program under the College of Arts and Sciences. For February, the highest library users are from the Bachelor of Secondary Education program under the College of Education. For the month of March, the Bachelor of Civil Engineering program from the College of Engineering took the spot of highest attendance in the library.

On April 8, 2024, Western Philippines University issued a memorandum allowing the faculty to transition to a hybrid learning modality during the hot season. It is to prevent students from having excessive exposure to extreme heat, which is dangerous to health. In this case, the University Library participates in the transition. The library continuously operates, welcomes clients, and allows them to enjoy a conducive environment for learning. The University Library has adequate space, air conditioning units and fans, internet connectivity, textbooks, and other learning materials that could be beneficial for learning and research.

Palawan State University and Western Philippines University Library Partnership Memorandum of Agreement Signing

The two University Libraries in the province of Palawan finally joined forces!

September 1, 2023, at Palawan State University-University Library, the signing for the Memorandum of Agreement between WPU and PSU has been completed. The two libraries agreed to share resources to combat illiteracy and promote the value of quality information in the province. Under this agreement, no research fees are to be collected from students and faculty members of each university who wish to use the services of other libraries. Moreover, this agreement between the two libraries is the beginning only of more collaborative projects and programs that provide quality information services to all Palawenos. Present at this event were the two University Librarians, Mr. Arneil Enario (WPU) and Mr. Christian Robert Nalica (PSU). Also, it was attended by the two WPU librarians, Ms. Mary Jane Lucero and Ms. Marjorie Banga, and two PSU librarians, Ms. Analiza Amistoso and Ms. Normalyn Abes.

Training Workshop on Basic Cataloging and Circulation of Library Materials using Destiny Library Manager  "October 1-2, 2020"

The Western Philippines University Main Library spearheaded Training and Workshop on Basic Cataloging and Circulation of Library Materials using Destiny Library Manager last October 1-2, 2020 at WPU Main Library Building, Serial and Special Section.

The two-day training and workshop was participated in by the library personnel of Main campus and PPC Campus and the library incharge of Quezon, Rio Tuba, Taytay and El Nido campuses.  Mr. Arneil S. Enario, the new University Librarian served as resource speaker of the event.

The activity started with a prayer led by Mr. Mark Anthony C. Esteban followed by the singing of National Anthem conducted by Ms. Elena B. Omagap. Ms. Suziet Q. Telliama the Main Campus librarian welcomed the participants with a short message.  Dr. Elsa P. Manarpaac, the Vice President for Academic Affairs graced the event and delivered her inspirational message, encouraging the participants on doing the best they can to better serve the clienteles and stressing the importance of the library services in the digital era.  Mrs. Maphella A. Ruado the former University librarian also shared her past to the present talk of the library.

During the first day the participants were able to identify the parts of books and the chief source of information, encode bibliographic information of books, journals and theses in the DLM.  On the second day the participants were able to apply procedures on ownership marking and pasting barcodes and spine labels, print barcodes and spine label of books and theses and input patron’s information in the DLM and they were able to check out and check in collections.


AACCUP Accreditation Level III - Phase II (BSBA, BPA,  BSCRIM) "September 18-20, 2019"

The Main Campus Library has been part again of the AACCUP Accreditation Level III Phase I of the following programs: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor in Public Administration, and Bachelor of Science in Criminology on September 18-20, 2019.

Prof. Maria Pretty Lay G. Abdala, the Chief Librarian of Bulacan State University was the kind accreditor.  She had all praises for the preparation and presentation of documents and even said that "as if I was looking at my own documents." She also praised the library personnel for doing their jobs well and spearheading activities and other linkages just to encourage the students to visit and use the library resources more often.   She also gave some valuable tips and pieces of advice on what to improve in the services of the library. 

After several months of waiting, the Area VII: Library passed this level of accreditation.  To God be the glory!
