Service

Collectively, the Panhellenic community participates in various service and philanthropic events each year. From our weekly tutoring at Elm Park Community School to our annual Work on Worcester event, we are always creating more opportunities to enhance our greater community.

Each sorority has their own philanthropy, including Girls for a Change, and Kids in Need Foundation, as well as supporting causes for fighting hunger and women's heart health. Panhellenic also has its own philanthropy, called Circle of Sisterhood.

Every week, a group of the Panhellenic community tutors at the nearby Elm Park Community School together. Many sisters spend these afternoons working with students and establishing a mentorship with them.

Since our Community Service Chair established this partnership between WPI Panhellenic and Elm Park Community School in January 2018, this work has won the Coghlin Award for Service during WPI's Student Recognition Awards ceremony twice.

Other than weekly tutoring, the Panhellenic Community Service Chair promotes service opportunities at every weekly Panhellenic general body meeting. They also plan and host events such as writing cards to local UMass Memorial Medical Center patients and making dog toys out of old T-shirts for the Worcester Animal Rescue League.

We love collaborating with other organizations both on campus and outside of WPI, such as PERIOD@WPI and Friendly House, to host a wide variety of service events for our members to participate in.

Work on Worcester

The fraternities and sororities at WPI host an annual city-wide service event called Work on Worcester. The event is open to all WPI students and typically takes place within the first couple weeks of A Term.

We work with fifteen organizations every year to complete service projects around the city of Worcester. Some organizations we have established partnerships with include:

We love coming together as a WPI community to impact our city in the best way. Free lunch and t-shirts are provided to all participants.

We hope to see you there next year!

Circle of Sisterhood

Circle of Sisterhood is WPI Panhellenic's philanthropy.

Circle of Sisterhood is an organization that provides educational opportunities for women and girls across the world. They do so by helping to fund underprivileged classrooms and providing education regarding female health.

Circle of Sisterhood's mission is to "leverage the collective influence of sorority women to raise financial resources for entities around the world that are removing educational barriers for girls and women facing poverty and oppression."

WPI Panhellenic has made an impact in six countries, including Uganda, Pakistan, Malawi, Niger, Afghanistan, and India. We have helped girls find academic mentors, contributed to a feminine hygiene product fund, and enabled women to enroll in vocational school to help give back to their own community.
