When shifting from a Face-to-Face (F2F) learning culture to an online synchronous or asynchronous culture, their may be resistance to change from some learners. Having the right assessments and the right resources are important to keep learners engaged and motivated to continue learning.
DEVELOPING ASSESSMENTS:
ASSESSMENT CHECKLISTS & RUBRICS: It is important for adult learners to understand the purpose of the purpose of what they are taking part in and that they understand what is in it for them. If learners do not feel motivated, it is because there is no end goal out of the activity.
REFLECTION: Activities such as feedback surveys, self-assessments, journals or exit cards are all opportunities for students to assess their own learning and outline their successes and what need to be improved. In this process, students can continuously reflect on what they do and look back for reference later on in their job.
