We welcome you to the Working on Ourselves Al-Anon Family Group and Hope you will find in this fellowship the help and friendship we have been privileged to enjoy. We who live or have lived, with the problem of alcoholism understand perhaps as few others can. We too were lonely and frustrated but in AL-Anon we discover that no situation is really hopeless and that it is possible to find contentment, and even happiness, whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not
Working on Ourselves Al‑Anon Family Group is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. By sharing common experiences and applying the Al-Anon principles, families and friends of alcoholics can bring positive changes to their individual situations, whether or not the alcoholic admits the existence of a drinking problem or seeks help.
The group Working on Ourselves was established as a rebrand of Working on the Solution which was a result of the merger of two previously existing groups: Working on It and In the Solution. Both of which were located at the Lambda Phoenix Center.
In the Solution was registered on September 6, 2002, and meetings convened weekly on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM. Working on It was established in the year 2000, received official registration on October 22, 2003. Meetings were held weekly on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM. This meeting is now inactive due to the merger.
The two groups establishing merger resulted in the creation of Working on the Solution on June 30, 2008. Come 2023, the registered name was officially changed to Working on Ourselves!
