NUTRITION

It is important that students are eating a nutritious, healthy, well-balanced diet-that can reduce the risk for certain diseases, improve both memory and mood, build strong bones and teeth, and there are many more benefits. In class I introduced MyPlate to help students learn about what their diet should consist of and how to create nutritious and delicious meals.

MyPlate.gov is a great resource for everyone, not just the students. I highly encourage to look over the site and see all of the great tools they have to offer.

Some good snack options:

Another great resource is MyFitness Pal. It is an website/app that you can use to track your food intake and exercise each day. MyFitness Pal does a great job of breaking things down so you can see how much of something you are ingesting. It breaks down and tells you your day to day fat, carbohydrate, protein, vitamins, and mineral intake, just to name a few. It will also help guide you in what is needed more in your diet and what you should cut back on. Over all it is a great tool and recommend using, I do!
