About the Team

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Woodridge Volunteer Corps Team

What is WVCT?

The Woodridge Volunteer Corps Team (WVCT) program educates families and individuals about preparing for disasters or hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as traffic control, crowd control, monitoring damaged utility sources until proper repairs can be made, helping evacuate victims, light search and rescue, team organization, and rendering basic first aid to those who have sustained minor injuries or shock. WVCT members may also be called upon to help with administrative roles such as manning a disaster assistance phone bank, aiding emergency response personnel, or an Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Using their training WVCT members can assist others in the Village following an incident, as well as on-scene professional emergency responders. WVCT members promote emergency preparedness, give critical support to first responders in emergencies, provide immediate assistance to victims, collect disaster information to support first responder efforts and provide help in the period immediately following a major emergency or disaster. WVCT enables individuals to help their families and neighbors prepare, respond, and recover within their own neighborhood.
