From the KPWC September 2025 Newsletter
The wonderful ladies of the Woodbridge Women’s Club have adopted the Omniride bus shelter at Old Bridge and Troupe. Their sponsorship will allow a local artist to create environmental-themed artwork that will be placed on the bus shelter to enhance ridership experience and place public artwork in the neighborhood. The ladies of the WWC will provide litter removal around the shelter and have been trained by the KPWB staff. We are grateful for their sponsorship and look forward to working with such a great group!
WWC Members Learn About the Program “Keep Prince William County Beautiful”
"Keep Prince William County Beautiful” was the speaker’s topic for the January WWC General Meeting. Mr. Rico Fleshman, Executive Director of the department, highlighted initiatives, including Adopt-a-Spot, Adopt-a-Shelter, Community Cleanups, Litter Surveying, Storm Drain Awareness, Educational Outreach, TREX Recycling, E-waste Recycling, Beautification, and a Pilot Compost Program. He outlined ways the public may actively participate in supporting the department's objectives, such as artists decorating bus shelters to discourage littering. Collaborations with community garden clubs and data center volunteers resulted in the planting of 90 trees and improvements to the Chinn Park Library Children’s Garden. WWC members learned the Club could propose a Woodbridge area project to Mr. Fleshman's department. If approved, he would seek funding for it. This offers an opportunity for members to contribute their time without the need for financial contributions from themselves or the Club, thereby encouraging greater community commitment to projects.
