READING BUDDIES
A WIN//WIN PROGRAM FOR EVERYONE
In collaboration with two Woodbridge elementary schools, the GGWC-WWC is pleased with the very successful “Reading Buddies” program that helps children with their reading skills.
As one of our community service programs, this project is designed to encourage the appreciation of reading books for kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd graders. Our members have volunteered to read and share stories with the younger students at Featherstone Elementary School and Antietam Elementary School.
It is greatly appreciated by the teachers, the librarian and of course the children think it’s the best, as do our members!
What an excellent and satisfying way to help the children in our community.
WWC in collaboration with the Featherstone Elementary School Library held a successful Reading Buddies series this fall. It focused on reading with K, 1st and 2nd graders to improve their reading skills as well as to enhance their appreciation for books. Club volunteers spent time reading and exploring delightful stories the children would choose to read. At the end of every session the children and volunteers alike were all smiles.
