About Waldorf Education
Waldorf / Steiner Education was first started by Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian educator and founder of Anthroposophy, in 1919, in Stuttgard, Germany. More than 100 years later, this education movement has spread worldwide.
Its pedagogy is a unique educational strategy that aims to provide an unhurried and creative learning environment to allow young children to experience the wondrous of childhood and the joy in learning. It fosters the development of the whole child through music, art, storytelling, play, life-skills activities and connection with nature.
Many of Waldorf / Steiner initiatives are founded by individuals who believed in a humanistic and natural way in educating children. Similar to a little seed that needs fertile soil and conducive environment to grow healthily into a big strong tree, children ought to be given an opportunity to grow strong and healthy at their own pace, both physically and emotionally.
At WLCH, our children are nurtured in a warm, homely environment with a strong daily, weekly and yearly rhythms to provide structure and predictability, and gentle transitions to different activities where they feel safe and secure to grow and blossom.
What do our children need to survive in a more and more complex world? The beauty of Waldorf Education are well documented in these documentaries.
