Wonder Valley Ranch Resort - Room TBD
Wonder Valley Ranchos is a beautiful place to live with friendly, like-minded neighbors! Here, we have the space for people who are interested in nature, gardening, bird watching, horseback riding, hiking, and much more. Located 35 miles east of the Fresno/Clovis metropolitan area there are approximately 500 lots and, currently, about 225 homes. Lots range in size from 1 to 5 acres interspersed throughout the foothill mountainous area. Mill Creek intersects the area and provides a great place to explore on foot or horseback. It’s dry during late summer and fall, but can be a raging small river during the wet winters and springs. The historic Wonder Valley Resort sits in the center of the area, providing an added resource. For a small fee their services are available to property owners. Close to the Kings River and Pine Flat Lake, fishing and boating are but a few minutes away. Pastoral living, wildlife, and scenic beauty abound! Do visit... but please just drive slowly. We love our open range and the cattle can be found crossing the road as they move from one area to the next.
Wonder Valley has an incredibly rich and varied history! This history extends from the Choinumni tribe of Native Americans (one of the Yokut tribes) to the notorious Dalton Brothers gang, who used to live on the towering Dalton Mountain that overlooks the area. Our location was also a popular destination for many Hollywood stars who visited Wonder Valley Ranch Resort, including Tom Mix, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and others. The founder of the current iteration of Wonder Valley Ranch Resort is patriarch Stan Oken, who wrote about the fascinating history of Wonder Valley. Oken’s book, “Wonder Valley Then and Now: Including Short Stories of the Wild West,” is a fun and interesting read on the history of the area, complete with numerous photos from the past. If you are interested in reading further about Wonder Valley today and in days gone by, the book can be purchased directly from the Wonder Valley Ranch Resort gift shop or you can contact the resort via their website HERE.
The following is a brief excerpt from the ‘Introduction’ of Wonder Valley Then and Now:
"Lawmen and outlaws have fought hard on these hills. Native Americans and ranchers have made both good and bad deals over the land. Cowboys and dreamers once lived in this valley with an open sky and rolling hills lushly carpeted in grass and scrub oak. This valley, where hopes and dreams have lived for hundreds of years, is Wonder Valley."
Wonder Valley has been considered an "Open Range" area since before the establishment of the Wonder Valley Ranchos development. As a result, Wonder Valley Ranchos incorporated the concept of "Open Range" into the day-to-day living experience of the valley. Cows and horses are allowed to roam freely throughout the area, foraging on the grass found abundantly in the valley, and contributing positively to wildfire prevention.
PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY and enjoy the pastoral beauty as you drive through on Elwood to Squaw Valley or come to visit family and friends. THANK YOU.

Wonder Valley is located approximately 35 miles from the Fresno and Clovis area, and about 20 miles from the city center of Sanger, which is the city of Wonder Valley's zip code. It is bordered by the communities of Squaw Valley to the east and Tivy Valley and Piedra to the west. It is also only a few miles (as the crow flies) from Pine Flat Lake, though by car the trip is about 12 miles to the first marina and boat launch. Wonder Valley is also only about a 45 minute drive from the entrance to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, which is the incredible home of the towering Giant Sequoias, dramatic cliffs, hiking trails, campgrounds, caves and caverns, snow play areas, and more.
