DAPUR SISWA MADANI

The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) introduced the Dapur Siswa MADANI Programme and expanded its implementation across all Higher Education Institutions (IPTs) to assist students in need.

The initiative is among the efforts to address challenges related to food affordability and accessibility among students and to ensure that their welfare is safeguarded throughout their academic journey in higher education institutions.

OVERVIEW

Dapur Siswa MADANI is an initiative to provide students with a safe, well-equipped shared kitchen, enabling them to prepare affordable and nutritious meals while promoting student welfare and community engagement.

OBJECTIVES

To support B40, M40 and international financially needy students.
To reduce students' food expenses.
To promote volunteerism through meal preparation and cooking.
To prevent food insecurity among students.
To enhance students' focus on teaching and learning (T&L).
To safeguard students' welfare and well-being.

ESTABLISHMENT

1 kitchen for every 1,500–3,000 students (MOHE guideline).

IIUM plans to establish 6 Dapur Siswa MADANI based on the current number of B40 and needy students.

MANAGEMENT

The Dapur Siswa MADANI will be managed by the Student Kitchen Operations Committee, comprising:

Chairperson: MRCC President
Secretariat: Welfare Exco, IIUM Student Union
Members: Presidents of all Mahallah Representative Committees (MRC)

FACILITIES & OPERATIONS

a) Facilities and equipment must be fully provided to ensure that basic cooking needs

can be met in an efficient, safe environment that complies with student safety and

health standards.

b) Materials management must be comprehensive and systematic, encompassing;

Cleaning schedules
Duty rosters
Equipment maintenance
Raw material and supply management

Mahallah Ameenah (Sisters)
Mahallah Zubair (Brothers)
Mahallah Siddiq (Brothers)

Phase 2 (2027): Expansion to additional mahallahs will be implemented based on the pilot evaluation and funding availability.
