Congratulations
Congratulations on being chosen by your fellow Scouts to join the Order of the Arrow (OA) — Scouting’s National Honor Society. You were selected because you live the Scout Oath and Law in your daily life. The Ordeal is the first step on your journey of cheerful service and brotherhood.
Just got elected, what's next?
Withlacoochee Lodge hosts two Ordeal induction weekends each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. These are your opportunities to complete your Ordeal following your election. If you do not complete your Ordeal within one and a half years of your election, you’ll need to be re-elected by your troop to become eligible again. You can register on the South Georgia Council Website.
The Ordeal is the official induction experience into the Order of the Arrow. It’s a 24-hour program of service and reflection, guided by the principles of the Scout Oath and Law. The Ordeal is a unique experience designed to test your selflessness, dedication, and spirit of service. During the Ordeal, you will reflect on your commitment to Scouting’s ideals, participate in service projects that benefit the camp and council, and strengthen your bond with nature and other Scouts.
As a candidate (newly elected member), you’ll be responsible for your own transportation to and from camp. Plan to arrive Friday evening and check in after eating dinner beforehand.
It’s not a test of strength or endurance — it’s an opportunity to grow personally and serve cheerfully.

Be prepared for a weekend of outdoor camping and service. You should bring:
Full field uniform (Class A)

After the Ordeal
When you complete the Ordeal, you’ll become a full member of the Order of the Arrow — your lodge’s newest Arrowman.
Your next steps:

Continue to serve your unit, camp, and community — the OA is about cheerful service above all.
