**House Rules for Your Stay**
We want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe stay, so please take a moment to review these important guidelines:
1. **No Open Fires of Any Kind**
Please only use the provided BBQ grills. For safety reasons, open flames or unapproved grills are not allowed. Recently, a Korean-style BBQ nearly caused a fire on one of our decks, so we kindly ask that you use only the equipment provided. Any damage caused by unauthorized use will be your responsibility.
2. **Hot Tub Usage**
If a hot tub is included with your rental, we ask that you shower before entering. Please refer to the posted hot tub rules for additional guidelines. **Absolutely no smoking** of any kind is permitted in the hot tub.
3. **Trash and Garbage**
Please keep all food, garbage, and coolers inside the house. Leaving them outside attracts wildlife, including bears. If trash is left outside and leads to damage, you will be responsible for any repairs.
4. **Additional Guests**
Additional guests beyond those initially registered must be pre-approved. An extra charge of $50 per person, per night, will apply for guests exceeding the original limit of eight. All guests must be registered with us for access at the front gates.
5. **Pets**
We prefer small dogs under 15 lbs. Larger dogs may be considered if covered by Airbnb or Vrbo insurance. Please note that additional fees may apply for pets over 15 lbs, and approval is required in advance.
6. **Doors and Windows**
When you open the windows or doors to enjoy the fresh mountain air, please ensure the AC or heat is turned off. Remember to close them and restart the AC/heat when you're done.
7. **Fireplaces**
Please do not adjust or turn off the pilot lights in the fireplaces. A steady blue pilot flame is normal. If the pilot light is turned off, a fee of $150 to $300 will be charged to cover the cost of relighting it.
8. **Tobacco and Vaping**
We ask that you refrain from using any tobacco products on the property. Chewing, Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited.
9. **Pet Safety**
For your pet's safety, all dogs must be kept on a leash when outside. Wild animals are a concern, and pets have been injured in the past. The POA rules also require all pets to be leashed. Non-compliance may result in fines, and we are not responsible for any injuries to your pets.
10. **Exercise and Safety**
While the POA generally discourages exercise on the roads of Big Canoe, if you do decide to walk, jog, run, or bike, please wear bright clothing or use reflective gear to ensure visibility to drivers.
11. **Speeding**
Please be mindful of the speed limits. Speed cameras are in place on the lower dam road, and fines are issued for speeds over 10 mph above the posted limit. A $50 plus fine will apply, and any tickets are your responsibility.
12. **Security Cameras**
For your safety, security cameras are located at the front door of each house. These cameras are only used for check-in verification and monitoring wildlife activity. Bears are common in the area and may approach the property, so we use the cameras to help keep you informed.

We appreciate your cooperation in following these rules. By doing so, we can ensure that everyone enjoys a safe and peaceful stay. Thank you!
