Ofwat Innovation Fund
Ofwat, the economic regulator of water and wastewater services in England and Wales, is delivering a £600 million, 10-year Water Innovation Fund through a variety of different challenges suited to different organisations and topic areas. The intention of the fund is to grow the water sector’s capacity to innovate, enabling it to better meet the evolving needs of customers, society and the environment. The Fund is delivered in partnership with Challenge Works and supported by Arup and Isle Utilities.

Ofwat Water Breakthrough Challenge
The Water Breakthrough Challenge is one of the competitions which is part of the Ofwat Innovation Fund. The sixth round of the Water Breakthrough Challenge (‘Breakthrough 6’) will make up to £50 million available to highly collaborative water-sector innovations, aiming to deliver benefits for customers, society and the environment. This challenge is not focused around a specific topic area of problem statement but is a water company led challenge.

The Water Efficiency Lab (WEL) is a new challenge-led competition to attract innovative solutions to specific water efficiency challenges and unlock progress on water efficient technology, processes and approaches.
