So for the first time in 10+ years, Wired Lance doesn't suck and has some purpose now. Wires are designed to go alongside Sword or Partisan to achieve better damage on downs or get the most out of counters and are best used as a sub-weapon. It's also a solid main weapon, but to a lesser extent. I don't imagine you'll be breaking any DPS world records with wires but you can expect it to be better than at least half of the other existing weapons in the game.
Wired Lance is a method of transportation mid-range melee weapon. That means you play BEHIND other melee classes but in FRONT of rangers and magic casters. A typical fight will look like this:
It’s designed around a gimmick called critical distance. The weapon does more damage hitting at the tip of your range. Hit with the lance, not the wire!
Super long reach for a melee tool
Can move around in the air with ease
Has all the swag
Cheap on player shops cuz nobody plays it
Engaging and fun gameplay*! You get more attacks and options than other weapons
*actually not sarcasm, surprisingly
Reach so large that hitting weakpoints in tight areas is tough
Needs skill, practice, and knowledge of all the small quirks to work
Unforgiving and laggy animation restrictions
Often requires you to intentionally get hit and take damage to keep up
HEAVY reliance on lock-on
…
… Fingers crossed that you read that and decided to main a Sword for better results.
