Welcome to WiPA!
We are a club at UBC dedicated to creating a welcoming community for women+ in the PHAS department.
The WiPA club aims to connect women+ and allies in the PHAS department, and to create a supportive, inclusive community. As two women in physics/astronomy who have greatly benefited from the support of our friendship, we are committed to cultivating an environment for others to find this as well.
Our goal is to create a safe space where individuals can feel supported, share experiences, and build lasting friendships. Through this club we hope to empower women+ to thrive academically, professionally, and personally to ensure they feel supported throughout their academic journey at UBC.
WiPA was founded by two passionate UBC students, Abilene and Marusia, who wanted to create a supportive and inclusive community within the PHAS department. We have greatly benefited from the support of our friendship, and want to help others build a similar support system. We are so excited to bring a new, fun, and inclusive space to the PHAS department! We’re now joined by a 10-member executive team, all just as passionate as we are about bringing this vision to life!
