About Us

The Winton Historical Association began in 2015 with a group of concerned citizens and homeowners who met at the Winton Town Hall. The group consulted with Scott Power of the North Carolina Historic Preservation Office to begin the process of establishing a Winton National Registered Historic District.

During September 2015, 100 property owners were invited to informational meetings for the future historic district. After initial fundraising, an architectural consultant was hired to prepare the National Register nomination.

The Winton Historic District was entered in the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior on December 21, 2020.
