Front and Back parts are mixed up.
Right click on it.
Turn around.
(Its an alpha blending mode issue. In this case no big deal.)
Different Screen resolutions result in different looks of the text Hud.
Resize the Compass
In laggy conditions it may happen, parts of the compass not showing right away. Its an SL thing. That happens to other Huds too.
Try one of this:
Wait or turn around a little
Right click on Compass
Switch it Off / On
Try the shortcut ctrl-shift-R twice. (For this to work, Developer Menu must be active (ctrl-alt-Q)
Detach / Attach the Compass
WindCompass uses the attachement point "HUD Center".
Dont worry if that spot is already taken.
Right click the compass in inventory and select "ADD"
Your other Hud and Compass are now sharing the same spot.
For Center 2 you need new position and rotation data. Follow these steps:
Attach the Compass to Center 2
Right click, edit it
Go to tab "Object"
Copy this position data: <0.00000, -0.15514, 0.40935> and paste at Position block (press the lower "P" button)
Copy this rotation data: <0.00000, 270.00000, 0.00000> and paste at Rotation block (press the lower "P" button)
Now move it, where you want it to.
(I recommend to "ADD" the Compass to the HUD Center as described above.)
Don't worry. Go to Options > Channel, enter btn
Yes.
Go to Options > Trim Hints
Click the little "A" icon nearby the Option button
Or go to Options > Show Less
Check, if Gestures Mode is set to OFF
The Winddirection and Windspeed buttons are disabled in Gesture Mode.
Some words about Avatar script load...
In general, wear as less scripts/huds possible and as much as needed, same goes for the passengers / crew.
Often it happens Skipper falls off the boat after simcross or similar effects occur.
Reason:
On simcrossing the server transfers the boat and avatar(s) separately to the next sim and puts them together after crossing.
A light scripted avatar arrives earlier than a heavy scripted boat in the next sim and vice versa.
The next sim waits for the "heavier" one to arrive, but if it takes to long, a timeout occurs and boat and avatar arrive separated in the next sim or crash.
Where to look?
In Firestorm, go to Menu Avatar > Avatar Health > Scripts.
Here are all avatar scripts and the boat script listed.
Check that list for script count. If you sitting on boat and it is not listed yet, sail to the next sim and refresh that list.
What to do?
Align the avatar script load to the boat script load.
Detach uneeded Huds, attachements, genitals or use an unscripted copy.
Example:
Bandit IF ~650 kB vs. Skipper 200kB = unbalanced
Bandit IF ~650 kB vs. Skipper 300kB + Crew 300kB = well balanced
Since the simcrosses improved with the new server roll outs 8/2020 we are experience script error messages like that:
The boat sends a script error: "llStopAnimation: Script trying to stop animations but agent not found"
• This why it happens:
On simcross, the avatar gets separated from boat/vehicle and both will be sent to the new region separately.
After simcross they will be reunited again. Normally you don't notice that.
This script error happens, when they still in status not reunited. (so the script is a bit faster than the simcross reunite procedure)
• What to do?
You can ignore that message.
• If this message still bothers you, you can disable it in Firestorm:
- Go to Preferences > Notifications > Objects & Scrips... uncheck: "Report Script Errors"
like in this picture: http://prntscr.com/u2pval
This might be a temporary workaround, because it turns all script messages off!
• Firestorm offers a Quick Preference Window, where you can add a checkbox for this:
- Go to Quick Prefs (you might add a toolbar button, if not visible)
- in Quick Preference window go to Configure mode
- press "+" to add a control, rename it to something descriptive like "Show Script Errors"
- choose debug setting from drop down list "ShowScriptErrors"
- select Type of control button "Checkbox" or "Radio"
- press X to save that
Now you can turn On/Off the script warnings quickly.

Hopefully the Labs get a fix very soon.
Since the simcrosses improved with the new server roll outs 8/2020 we are experience script error messages like that:

This error has some weird side effects. The skipper is stuck in animation or sitting up above the seat.
Usually the boat is still working anyway., just the sitting looks odd.
A re-sit often helps. but if you're in a race... re-sit is a bad idea..., keep going and re-sit after race.
Hopefully the Labs get a fix very soon.
Uggo Vieria created a workaround for it. Replace the AVsit scripts in your boat (boat has to be modify).
Find the script here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/AVsitter-129-fix-for-vehicles/20869617.
Hopefully the Labs get a fix very soon.
This happens because of Grid Disconnects and grey screen Quits occurring since March 2019.
To prevent this from happen, make your settings as usual. Then DETACH and RE-ATTACH the Compass.
Note: Detaching saves settings. Re-Attaching keeps those Settings.
Move your avatar a little, the spinning stops.
After detaching Gesture-Sets, Compass or Huds i lost my hair and other parts! After many region crossings this can happen. Its a SL issue.
Don't detach anything,
RE-WEAR your current OUTFIT.
In rare cases after simcross it may happen, the compass freezes up.
In Firestorm, go to Menu Avatar > Avatar Health > Refresh Attachments or
Detach and Re-Attach the Compass.
In this case this might reset the Compass to its defaults!
Following commands are available:
mem = script versions and memory info
btn = Toggle buttonlayout "Racewind" / "Send Wind" and Stopwatch (previous or new layout)
help = list of available commands
Go to Options > Channel, Enter command.
The fastest way to set wind for boat and Compass!
Free Gesture Sets provided! Look in the subfolder "Wind Gestures". You will find 3 sets:
BOSS (for channel 29000) - Bandit and TMS BOSS boats
BWind (for channel 29000) - Bandit and TMS BWind boats
BWind (for channel 0 and 29000) - standard BWind boats
Note:
Check, if those gestures not conflict with already active gestures!
To check all active gestures press ctrl-G. For its keyboard layout look here.
Those boats use a different windsystem called WWC (wind, waves and currents). The WindCompass supports Boss and BWind systems only yet. You can use WindCompass with those WWC boats as well:
in Compass > Boats > Select 'BWind'
Set wind on boat as usual
Set wind in Compass as usual
The red "No Go" zone is based on the AWA (Apparent Wind Angle) and is variable depending on the boatspeed.
Imagine this:
You're going for a bicycle ride and get ready to start. A light breeze comes from the side.
That light breeze is the "True Wind" and comes from an angle which is called "True Wind Angle" (TWA).
Now you start cycling and increase speed...
That light breeze from before changed to a stronger headwind. Now that "wind" apparently comes from front. Its called "Apparent Wind" and the angle where it comes from is called Apparent Wind Angle (AWA). This wind is created by your own speed.
So, the faster you go, the more the wind seems to come from front. Thats why the AWA is variable and the red "No Go" zone keeps moving to front, depending on your boatspeed.
The abbreviation "HUD" comes from military aviation and stands for "Head Up Display".
This means that the flight instruments were projected onto a glass plate in the field of vision of the pilot.
He no longer had to look down at the instruments, so he could keep his head "up".
