All relevant numbers are displayed here.

The numbers shown here are AWA numbers divided by 10.  So, simply add a "0" to get the correct AWA number. A click on the ring cycles trough AWA dial ring styles:  

• Black (Default)

• Yellow

• Off

• Colored Numbers on Outer Ring

Whats AWA?

For most boats in the database there are boom angle numbers shown on the outer ring to help trimming the sails.
Those colored numbers suggest, what number to trim the sail to.

• Example: if number "30" is up top, trim your boom angle to around "30".
  Trim your mainsail with Up / Down keys or your gestures.
  You find the readings for "Boom" in the cockpit or on several Text Info Huds.

Gestures are the fastest way to set wind, (no using menu or click on Hud).
If you use gesture chat commands to set wind for your boat, WindCompass can pick them up too!

It listens for chat commands in BOSS format ("winddir ..." and "windspeed ...") or BWind format ("N", "E", "15", "21" etc.)  on channel /29000 or your own channel (How to set my own channel: see Options). It also listens for wind commands from own worn HUDs (example: Skipper Hud from Rubber Bunny)

(Default: OFF)

Note: Gesture mode is not available in Racemode.
If Gesture mode is active, manual windsetting by Click is disabled.

If both, skipper and crew, using a WindCompass, the skipper can synchronize the winddirection and -speed on the crews Compass.
This might be useful for practice purposes or sailing lessons.

• This works in Cruisemode.

• Crew activates the "Gestures" button.

• Skipper can use "Send Wind"/"Smart Mode" OR gesture based shortcuts.

Sends wind to the boat.  

No need to type "winddir"... "windspeed" it in chat anymore.
If you forgot to activate this option first, WindCompass will send the current wind again.

(Default: Off)

Note: Boss and BWind systems are supported.
Windspeeds over 30kt will be declined.

Switch WindCompass On/Off

Actually it turns the Compass Hud out of sight. Basic functions remain active, Boat Autodetection and Sending Wind. If switched ON, it shows a logo of the currently selected boat.

opens the Boat Menu

Click the "~" icon, Variable Wind switches ON
and a Settings menu opens up to adjust Winddirection, Windspeed and Timeinterval

• Set wind direction:
  Click Compass markers ("N", "NE"... etc.)

• Set wind speed:
  Click the numbers on the right of the Compass.

• BOSS boats allow to set more wind values:
  Click on the compass ring and enter a wind direction.
  Click '...' below the speed numbers and enter a wind speed (values over 30 will be declined.)

• Reset Wind:
  Click inside the compass ring.
  Select "Default" to reset to default wind 360° / 15 kt.

• To send the wind to the boat, activate the Send Wind button. You may leave this activated.
  If Smart Mode is active, wind will be sent automatically.

Note: Boss and BWind systems are supported.

Note:  All menus will timeout within a minute.  After that time click again for new menu.

Shows boat and wind information.
Click on the text area, to cycle infotext format:

• Off

• Boatname and Windinfo (in Racemode with Race ID)   (Default)

• Boatname and description (in Racemode with Race ID and unprocessed Racewind)

Note: If the Boat is ready for Race, the text color is green and a checker board flag is displayed.

Shows Heading or Boatspeed.

Click on the text area, to cycle
