1. Old Business
We discussed the Janus Case desision which was pending at our last general meeting. The decision, in favor of Janus, was not a major concern for us because our members signed the commitment form. All other old business concerns Negotiations which is discussed in number 4.
2. Officer Election Discussion
We opened the floor to nominations for officers. We will give the nomination process two weeks. The proceedure for elections is elections every two years with elections suspended during an ongoing contrat negotiation. We learned from out interim NYSUT rep that elections must be completed at least every three years. This information will be ammended to the constitution as a bylaw.
3. Presentation by Interim Nysut Representative, Jason
Jason gave a presentation of the reason and need for our position regarding salary and health insurance. He is disappointed in the time line for fact finding. Jason stated that a desision is slated for Monday.
The Mandated Minimum Wage Increase was also discussed. How does it affect the members and the negotiation process. It was generally agreed that this mandate does not help the process.
4. Discussion of our Contract Negotiations
We discussed the negotiation process, how we got to this point and where we can go from here. There was lively discussion from members.
5. Where we need to go from here
We will continue to use tradition forms of information and social media to keep our message out. Where your tee shirts on Fridays.
6. New Business
The picnic date is set for June 28th 2019.

2. Proposed changes to the Constitution
a. Change to voting procedure :
"I. NAME
This organization shall be known as the West Irondequoit Maintenance Employees Organization.
II. Purposes
5. To expose and fight all violations of human rights among members;
VI. Officers
6. Elections
a. Written notice announcing the time and place of elections shall be sent to the district mailbox or building of each member in good standing...... at least 15 days prior to the election.
7. Terms of Office: Duly elected officers shall serve for a term equal to and in sequence with the agreed upon contract term. Each officer shall remain in office until his/her successor assumes the office."
There was a discussion of the changes most proposed to make the process easier. A member voiced concern over continuity of officers during contract negotiations.
Jason mentioned at a election cannot be more than 3 years.
3. Introduction of new members.
One new member was present and introduced.
4. Jason Discussed the Contract Campaign
Jason explained the coming contract negotiations and methods for getting involved. We will continue to explore these and start the process of assembling negotiating and other committees.
5. Board Member Elections
Steve V. discussed the last Board member elections and how he was involved with interviewing candidates, manning the phone bank to get the word out about candidates and how the three bargaining units were involved in the backing and election of candidiates..
6. New Business
The picnic date is set for June 26th 2020.
A member mentioned the custodial tests are posted on the Monroe County Civil Service page. anyone interested should follow the links on the site.
The member also voiced concern that a future meetin be set for 10:00am to accomodate the 2nd, 3rd, and split shift members.
7. Discussed the Joint/ Liaison Meetings
