We are an affiliate of the New York State United Teachers; NYSUT. Our membership totals 57-60 employees of the West Irondequoit School Districts Environmental Services Department with the present titles: Cleaner, Laborer, Custodial Assistant, Grounds Equipment Operator, Security Worker, Head Grounds Equipment Operator, Maintenance Mechanic III, Custodian, and Maintenance Mechanic II, and Labor Foreman.
The West Irondequoit Maintenance Employees Organization was elected by the then Building and Grounds employees of the West Irondequoit School district in 1984.
WIMEO is committed to ensuring and continually improving the relationship between the Environmental Services Maintenance Employees and the West Irondequoit Central School District. The goal of this relationship is the equitable treatment of all affected parties and to preserve a clean, safe, efficient, and ascetically pleasing environment for the education of students.
The voluntary officers positions are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Elections are held every two years or by special vote of the membership. the officers compromise the following committees:
