At Willow Pond, we believe polocrosse is more than a sport — it’s a way to build horsemanship, grit, and lifelong friendships.
Founded by the Poe family (Russell, Lisa, Lilly & Hailey) Willow Pond Polocrosse Club is based on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore, where we host tournaments, clinics, and play days that welcome riders of all ages. Our mission is to grow the sport locally, create opportunities for youth development, and connect our community with equestrian families across the country and the world.
Polocrosse is unique because it’s a family sport — moms, dads, kids, and even grandparents can all play on the same field. At Willow Pond, we’re proud to bring that spirit to our farm and beyond.
Lisa is the heart behind Willow Pond Polocrosse. She’s been playing on and off for around five years and is perfectly happy staying in D Grade forever — where she can laugh, have fun, and bring along new horses (at least until her daughters steals them from her!).
Lisa truly lives and breathes polocrosse. She’s deeply involved with the American Polocrosse Association, where she’s a strong advocate for youth development and growing the sport across the country. Whether she’s planning tournaments, clinics, coaching new players, or talking polocrosse non-stop, her passion shines through.
Alongside her daughters, Lilly and Hailey, Lisa travels to tournaments all over the country. No matter where she is, you’ll always hear her cheering loudly from the sidelines — not just for her girls, but for all of her “kids” in the sport.
Every team needs a backbone, and for Willow Pond, that’s Russell. From cooking meals and caring for the herd while the girls travel, to welcoming players from across the U.S. and around the world, Russell is truly the host with the mostest.
The club wouldn’t exist without his steady support, big heart, and willingness to pitch in wherever he’s needed. He may not always be on the field, but behind the scenes, Russell is the reason Willow Pond runs the way it does.
Lilly started playing polocrosse at age nine with her pony, Lexi, and has shown grit and determination ever since. Rising through the grades, she now competes strongly among adults at the upper levels. Her dedication has taken her around the world, proudly representing the USA in international test matches against the UK, Queensland, Ireland, and Australia, most recently with the U19 squad in 2025.
Hailey quickly followed in her sister’s footsteps and fell in love with polocrosse. She enjoys the camaraderie of tournaments and, with her horse Zuma, has proven to be a gritty and determined teammate. In 2025, she traveled to Australia to compete internationally — an experience that left her even more hooked on the sport. Resilient, fearless, and a little bit of a ball hog, Hailey is building her own path in the game.
These two sisters are about to shake things up at Willow Pond! Coley and Hayden tried polocrosse for the first time at a demo after a game show — and were instantly hooked. It combined their love for lacrosse and riding horses, and from that moment on, they were all in. They purchased their own rackets, hit the practice field, and haven’t looked back.
Oh, and did we mention? They’re both lefties. Watch out, because they’re bringing a whole new energy and have officially competed in two tournaments this year., We look forward to watching them c0ntinue to grow!
Lane joined Willow Pond at the end of last year, already a seasoned rodeo and roping rider. But once he picked up a polocrosse racket, his game leveled up even more — proving just how much this sport sharpens skills across disciplines.
He recently jumped in at the Youth Development Camp in Harvest, Alabama, riding different horses, learning fast, and having an absolute blast. He also competed in his first two tournaments this year and scored best player at both events.
Alexandra has been riding for nearly as long as she could walk and has trained her five Chincoteague Ponies — Blaze, Vegas, Moon, Rain, and the newest addition, River — entirely on her own. She also assists with the care of the Chincoteague Pony wild herd. Her heart horse, Blaze, has been by her side since he was just two days old, after Alexandra helped nurse him back to health in 2021 and later won him at auction.
Over the past year, Alexandra began homeschooling to focus on training her horses and helping at the Pony Centre in Chincoteague, where she met Lisa, Lilly, and Hailey and was introduced to polocrosse. She quickly fell in love with the sport and enjoys learning the game alongside her teammates.
Warren and Dean recently moved to the area and were introduced to polocrosse through our local veterinarian — and one great phone call later, they were part of the Willow Pond family. What started as a conversation about homeschooling, horses, riding, and life quickly turned into excitement about trying the sport.
Both are active athletes, with Warren playing lacrosse and Dean competing in baseball, and they bring a strong riding background as well. They’ve shown in hunt seat, western equitation, western pleasure, and saddle seat, proving they have both skill and versatility in the saddle. Natural competitors with great instincts, Warren and Dean are ready to take on polocrosse, and we can’t wait to watch them hit the field for their first tournament.
